The new year is a great time to reflect on our past goals, decide what to set our intentions on, and plan for the things we want to change or improve. While we are making these promises to ourselves, whether saving more money every month or adding a room to our house, it’s a good time to reevaluate our other goals like health or even skincare and beauty resolutions to make in 2023. There are a few goals and resolutions listed here that I will be working towards and a few suggestions that might give you some ideas for your skin and beauty new year resolutions.
Exercise
We know the long-term benefits of exercise for the body, but the benefits, extend to our skin. Exercise increases the blood flow to the skin and carries oxygen throughout the body. Exercise is also a great stress reliever which is important considering that we now know how much stress affects the skin’s health.
Create a skin and beauty vision board
As I look through magazines, I am most interested in pictures where a fresh face is focused, with as little makeup as possible. This year I want to focus on wearing even less makeup in my day-to-day routine, getting ready in the morning. I want my focus and time to be put into my daily skincare routine to make the most of my skin’s long-term progress.
Don’t neglect the neck and decollate
Many of us spend time looking down at a computer or phone, which helps to create lines in the neck. Make sure to carry all your serums down the neck and decollate. If you want to avoid purchasing a neck cream, definitely add facial products to your daily routine to give those areas the skincare benefits they need to stay young looking.
Clean out your skincare and makeup cabinet
It’s a great time to look at all your product expiration dates and toss out anything expired. Cream products are usually the first to go bad in your makeup stash, and the powders typically last longer. If you have a serum or blush that you don’t reach for whatever reason, use this opportunity to streamline your products to create more room for items that work in your skincare or makeup routine.
Reevaluate your current skincare routine
You may have had acne in your twenties, that’s all cleared up for now, but you are starting to notice fine lines forming this past year. It might be time to focus on antiaging products safe for acne-prone skin. You may have had dehydrated skin but worked on increasing hydration in your skin, and it’s not something you are worried about now, but you would like to address the hyperpigmentation in your skin.
Sunscreen daily
Find a sunscreen that works with your regular skincare routine that is easy to apply. Using a few sunscreens in your rotation in different situations is a good idea. Summertime is an excellent time to have more sweat and water-resistant sunscreen. Make sure to reapply throughout the day, especially if you work outside or live in a warm climate. Sunscreen is still the best antiaging product to keep your skin younger-looking and free from sun damage.
