Aestheticians, or skin care therapists, have trained in skin health and improving or maintaining skin wellness. Our skin is the largest organ, and a skin therapist will help you achieve a more radiant, youthful look to the skin. As an aesthetician, I can work with your to help you feel positive about your skin and meet your skincare goals.
Education and Training
Aestheticians spend many hours studying skin conditions, how the skin works, and skin analysis. I completed hours of courses to attain a certificate in aesthetics, a hands-on practical exam, and a state board written exam. After graduation, I attended several continuing education training courses for many different skincare lines, including dermalogica, IS Clinical, Skinceauticals, VI Derm, Revision Skincare, SkinMedica, and GlymedPlus. I have completed training for many skin treatments, including HydraFacial, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels. I have experience working in the spa industry, cosmetics, and plastic surgery. Through that experience, I have gained a lot of one-on-one personal direct experience treating skin issues. I have makeup application experience with people of all different ages and skin colors for all occasions, including everyday makeup, wedding, prom, and makeup for mature skin.
Treatment for Skin Conditions
Aestheticians can recommend products that manage many skin issues, including acne, sun-damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, melasma, fine lines, wrinkles, dull skin, rosacea, and dehydrated skin. Younger and glowing skin takes work, and a good skincare routine is vital to meeting your skin goals. Collagen production diminishes after age 20, and aestheticians can help you manage multiple skin conditions simultaneously.
Personalized at-home skin care recommendations
Many people spend money on products that are not right for their skin type, or the right products are purchased but need to be applied differently. Aestheticians take time to analyze skin and understand the products to help you meet your skin goals. Most of the success you will see is from the regular use of your home care products. Following a daily skincare routine will be essential to meeting your skincare goals.
Pharmaceutical-grade Skincare Products
Aestheticians have access to pharmaceutical-grade products that are 99.9 percent pure ingredients that produce results in the skin. The products work more effectively than many purchased at the department store level and are less irritating to the skin. Pharmaceutical-grade products usually have a smaller amount of fragrance or none at all.
Lifestyle Analysis
Aestheticians are concerned with the overall long-term health of your skin. There may be factors in your lifestyle, diet, or environment that may negatively affect your skin. We have ongoing training that gives us up-to-the-minute information on all the latest data that may be helpful for you in your skin journey. New data points and research can help us understand why certain things may not suit our skin. For example, we now know how different foods can produce more acne in the skin or be a trigger to acne-prone skin. Clients with rosacea can flare up by eating certain foods and stress around them. Skin flare-ups will lessen if you are aware of the things that cause them to happen.
